Buying Your OX29 Stock Bat
Every OX29 stock bat listed on our website is an individual bat. The photos, weight, profile and description you see on the product page are for the exact bat you will receive.
Once you've found the bat for you, there are a few options to choose from before adding it to your basket. Here's what they mean.
Your bat, finished your way
- Choose your sticker design
- Choose your grip
- Choose your anti-scuff sheet
- Choose your knocking-in option
- Add any special requests
1. Sticker Design
Choose your preferred OX29 sticker design from the options shown on the product page. The sticker images give you an idea of how each design looks on a finished bat. Your chosen stickers will be fitted to your bat before it is dispatched.
2. Grip Colour & Style
Choose the colour and style of grip you would like fitted to your bat. If you don't have a preference on grip style, simply select No preference and we'll choose a suitable grip for you.
If you would like a particular grip that isn't listed, select Other – tell us below and add the details to the comments box. We'll do our best to accommodate your request.
Prefer a thicker handle?
You can have a second grip fitted over the first for £7.50. This is completely optional and comes down to personal preference.
3. Anti-Scuff Sheet
Every OX29 stock bat is supplied with an anti-scuff sheet. Simply choose which of the three options you would like us to fit.
Maximum protection
Hammer Edge
Our highest level of protection. A clear polycarbonate sheet protects the face, with built-in fibre tape wrapping around the edges for added protection.
See the grains
Clear
The classic transparent option. Provides good protection while keeping the willow and grains fully visible.
Lightest option
Fibre
The thinnest and lightest option, helping to keep the finished weight down. Durable protection against impact and surface cracking, but it covers the grains of the bat.
4. Knocking-In
A new English willow cricket bat needs to be properly prepared before it is used against a new cricket ball.
All of our bats are ready for throwdowns from the moment you receive them. Before dispatch, every bat is professionally pressed, has the edges boned and an anti-scuff sheet fitted as standard.
Opting for our in-house knocking-in service speeds up the preparation process and gets your bat ready for match use sooner.
Machine Knocking
Around 13,000 controlled knocks are applied across the face, edges and toe, providing consistent preparation and excellent protection with a quicker turnaround than hand knocking.
Hand Knocking
Carried out entirely by hand using a specialist bat mallet, with particular attention paid to hardening and rounding the edges and toe. Ideal for players who prefer traditional craftsmanship and individual hand preparation.
No Knocking-In
Your bat will still be professionally pressed, have the edges boned and an anti-scuff sheet fitted, making it ready for throwdowns when you receive it. Further knocking-in will be required before using it against a new cricket ball.
5. Special Requests
There's an "Anything else we should know?" box on every stock bat product page.
Use this for any additional requests or preferences relating to your bat. If there's something you're unsure about, you can also get in touch with us before ordering.
