OX29 Warranty Policy

Bat Warranty

At OX29, we take immense pride in the craftsmanship of our bats and want you to feel confident in your purchase. We offer a 6-month warranty from the date of purchase, covering manufacturing defects relating to the blade and handle.

If your bat experiences an issue within this period that we believe is due to faulty craftsmanship or materials, we will repair or replace it at our discretion.

Warranty Coverage Includes

  • Manufacturing defects (e.g. cracks in the blade or handle, structural faults due to craftsmanship)
  • Handle issues (e.g. loosening or breakage)
  • Defects caused by poor materials (e.g. flaws within the grain structure of the willow)

Common Causes of Damage Not Covered

  • Bowling machine use
  • Water damage (especially to the toe)
  • Mis-hits or mistimed shots
  • Extreme heat or dry conditions
  • Improper use, lack of preparation or maintenance
  • Severe wear and tear
  • Bat sharing
  • Sticker removal or rebranding
  • Repairs by third parties

Warranty Exceptions - Defect / Refurbished / Used / Indian-Made Bats

We occasionally sell bats in our Defect / Used / Refurb / Indian-Made category at a discounted rate. These bats may have minor imperfections, previous use, or structural quirks that make them unsuitable for standard pricing.

Unless explicitly stated in the individual product listing, these bats are sold without warranty. If a bat includes warranty coverage, it will be clearly mentioned in its description. If in doubt, please contact us before placing your order.

Conditions of Warranty

We understand cricket bats endure significant use, and some wear is inevitable. However, damage caused by misuse or neglect is not covered.

  • Bowling machine use - synthetic balls can damage blades and handles. Use an older bat for this.
  • Water damage - moisture can cause swelling or cracking, particularly around the toe.
  • Improper use and mis-hits - cracks or edge damage from poor timing are excluded.
  • Extreme heat or dryness - always store bats properly to prevent brittleness or cracking.
  • Severe wear and tear - excessive signs of misuse or prolonged heavy use are not covered.
  • Bat sharing - multiple users cause uneven wear.
  • Sticker removal or rebranding - modifying the bat’s branding voids the warranty.
  • Repairs by third parties - any non-OX29 repairs or DIY fixes void the warranty.

Knocking-In Services

Please note - any bat ordered with one of our knocking-in services (hand or machine knocked) is not eligible for a refund of that service. Knocking-in is a labour-intensive process requiring time and equipment, therefore this cost is non-refundable under any circumstances, even if the bat is returned or replaced.

How to Make a Warranty Claim

If you believe your bat has developed a fault covered by warranty, please email us at ox29batdoctor@gmail.com with the following:

  1. Description of the issue
  2. Clear photographs of the damage
  3. Proof of purchase
  4. Your full contact details

Important - the bat must be returned to us in full for inspection. We cannot assess claims on partial returns (e.g. blade or handle only) or without the bat being returned.

Once received, we will assess the issue and advise on the next steps.

Please note - all inbound shipping costs are the customer’s responsibility unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Summary of Bat Coverage

  • Covered - manufacturing defects, handle faults, material flaws
  • Not covered - misuse, water or heat damage, mis-hits, bowling machine use, severe wear, third-party repairs
  • Warranty period - 6 months from purchase
  • Defect / Refurb bats - no warranty unless stated in listing
  • To claim - email ox29batdoctor@gmail.com with proof of purchase

Repair Warranty

At OX29 Bat Doctor, we do not offer a formal warranty on cricket bat repairs. However, we stand by the quality of our work and are always happy to hear from customers with concerns about repair durability or results.

If you are not satisfied with a repair, please contact us and we will assess the issue fairly and help where possible.

Before carrying out any repair, we always provide honest advice about whether your bat is worth repairing based on the damage. If we do not believe a repair is worthwhile, we will let you know upfront.

All repair-related queries should be directed to Sam via email - ox29batdoctor@gmail.com

Equipment Warranty

All protective equipment comes with a 6-month fair wear and tear warranty. Providing the equipment has been well maintained, genuine faults will be honoured with credit or replacement when proof of purchase is provided.

Cricket equipment is made from natural materials prone to wear during use. Visible deterioration from normal play is considered fair wear and tear and is not covered.

Warranty applies only to functional faults - not cosmetic or superficial damage. For example, a worn palm on gloves after regular use would not be covered.

To make a claim, proof of purchase must be presented.

Converted and Pre-Spiked Trainers Warranty

OX29 provides a 3-month warranty on sole lifting and on damage to the sole that we have fitted. All such faults are subject to our discretion, depending on whether the issue was caused by our process or through use or misuse.

Usage Recommendations

  • Our spiked trainers are designed for batting and fielding.
  • Bowlers may experience extra sole wear due to foot drag - this is not covered under warranty.

If a sole lifts, we are happy to review the case. However, soles that lift or split due to bowling, scraping, or dragging will not result in a successful warranty claim.

Not Covered For Trainers

  • Damage to the shoe upper (rips, tears, or heavy scuffing)
  • Stud or marking damage
  • General shoe wear unrelated to our sole fitting

We source retail trainers in the UK and modify them with a cricket spike sole. Because of this, we cannot guarantee or warrant the original shoe - only the sole work performed by us.

Summary of Trainer Warranty

  • Covered - sole faults or lifting within 3 months, faults due to OX29 fitting
  • Not covered - upper rips, stud marks, excessive wear, bowling drag, scraping, misuse
