Cricket Bat Repair FAQs
What are your turnaround times?
Outside the busy season, repairs can often be completed within 1–2 days. However, between March and August, turnaround is usually 5–7 days from when we receive your bat to when it’s sent back.
Is my repair worth doing?
We’ll always give you honest advice before starting any work. If we believe a repair isn’t worth it due to the type or extent of damage, we’ll tell you upfront.
Do you offer a warranty on repairs?
No formal warranty is provided. As wood is a natural material, each bat responds differently to repair. Our work restores your bat from a broken state to a playable one, and we always aim for the best possible result. If you have any concerns about the repair, please contact us before using the bat again so we can help.
What happens to my grip during repair?
Unless you’ve ordered a new grip as part of your booking, the existing grip on your bat will be returned to you. Bats sent in without grips will be returned without grips, unless a new grip is ordered on the repair booking.
I want to keep my current stickers on the bat – can you do that?
We always preserve any stickers we can during a repair. However, we won’t compromise the quality of the repair to keep stickers in perfect condition. For example, a sticker on the back of the toe often can’t be saved when repairing a toe split.
Can you remove my stickers, clean the bat, and then put them back on?
No – cricket bat stickers are single-use adhesive. Once removed, they cannot be reapplied.
I need a rehandle – can I keep my stickers?
In most cases, we can keep all your stickers except for the “V” section where the new splice is cut. There’s no way to complete a rehandle / handle replacement without losing at least this part of the sticker on both the front and back of the bat.
If I remove the stickers myself, will I avoid the sticker removal charge?
No – sometimes the difficult, time-consuming, or costly part isn’t removing the sticker itself, but dealing with the residue it leaves behind. The same applies to bats wrapped with bat tape.
If a bat arrives without sticker removal selected on the order, but has residue, tape, or missing wood fibres where stickers used to be, we will issue an additional invoice for sticker removal.
Do you replace the toe guard during the repair?
We don’t automatically replace toe guards unless it’s included in the repair you’ve booked. If you’d like a new toe guard fitted, please select this option when placing your repair order. If a toe guard needs to be removed to carry out your repair, it will not be replaced unless you’ve requested and paid for a replacement.
Why don’t you return bat sleeves?
In our experience, it’s rare for customers to label both their bat and sleeve. When parcels arrive, bats and sleeves can get separated, and without clear identification, we don’t know who they belong to. We also don’t have the space or time to store and match them later.
Many brands provide free sleeves, so if you don’t mind the risk of it not being returned, you’re welcome to send your bat in a sleeve for protection during transit. If dropping your bat off in our 24/7 contactless drop-off box, there’s no need for a sleeve.
What if I don’t have packaging to send my bat?
You can order a cardboard bat box and return label from us here.
Do you accept international repairs?
Yes, we do. However, any import duties charged on our end must be covered by you. Please email us first at ox29batdoctor@gmail.com to arrange international repairs.
Are repaired bats insured when you send them back?
Yes – all returned bats are insured for up to £150. If you require higher insurance, please contact us before ordering (additional charges apply).
I live locally – can I pick up my bat after it’s repaired?
No – we do not offer collections. Due to the high volume of bats we receive and our workshop’s location, all completed repairs are sent back by post, regardless of where you live.
We’ve found most customers want to collect outside normal working hours, which creates logistical challenges. Posting bats back is the most efficient method for both you and us — once your repair is complete, we simply send it straight back to you.
