Shipping & Returns

If your bat handle has cracked, gone loose or no longer feels solid when tapping, a proper re-handle will bring it back to how it should feel.

At OX29 Bat Doctor, every handle replacement is carried out in a fully equipped workshop using purpose-built machinery, ensuring the splice is cut accurately and the new handle is fitted and aligned properly.

When Does a Bat Need Re-Handling?

Most bats will show signs before the handle fully goes. You might notice small cracks around the handle or shoulders, a loose feel in your hands, more vibration when striking the ball, or a drop in performance.

In most cases it is fairly obvious when a bat needs re-handling, and if the blade is still in good condition, replacing the handle is usually the best option.

What the Service Involves

We remove the binding and glue any visible damage to the shoulders of the bat where needed, before splicing and fitting a new 4 piece handle.

The new handle can be customised to your preference in shape, thickness and length, so the finished bat feels right in your hands.

You also have the option of blade refurbishment if required, allowing this to be carried out as a full bat repair rather than just a handle replacement.

Our Method

A lot of re-handles are carried out using basic setups and a bandsaw, which can be enough to get a handle back into a bat, but it does not allow for the level of accuracy needed for a consistent result.

We cut our handles on a large circular saw, allowing for a much tighter and more accurate fit through the splice, with the handle aligned properly from the start.

What to Expect After a Re-Handle

A new handle will usually feel slightly firmer to begin with, as older handles tend to soften over time before they fail. After a short period of use, the bat settles in and feels natural again, with improved stability and control.

Important Information

If you choose the 'No Blade Refurb' option, only the top half of the front and back of the bat will be addressed during the repair. Any work outside of this will be charged additionally.

If you choose not to remove the stickers, there will be a visible 'V' where the new splice has been cut.

Add-ons such as toe and shoulder binding may not be carried out if we feel the bat does not require it, or if fitting them may cause further damage. In this case, the cost of the add-on will be refunded.
